Honor V40 5G launched with Dimensity 1000+ SoC and 50 MP Triple camera setup

Honor has finally launched the Honor V40 5G smartphone after postponing its launch date several times. This is the first handset by Honor after the company’s separation from Huawei. The phone is launched with MediaTek’s powerful Dimensity 1000+ chipset, 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage of 128 GB / 256 GB. The smartphone runs on Magic UI 4.0 based Android 11 OS. There are no google services yet on Honor phones but as per many reports, the company is in talks with US firms and may launch phones with GMS soon. Another variant of Honor V40 5G may go official with GMS globally with the name tag, HonorView 40. For now, let’s have a look at other details of V40 5G.

Honor V40 5G color variants

The Honor V40 is announced with a big 6.72 inches OLED display panel having 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate. It is the first V-series phone from Honor to feature an OLED panel. The screen has a Full HD+ resolution of 1236 x 2676 pixels and is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. As far as the rear design is concerned, the Honor V40 5G has a glass back, which does not attract fingerprint marks. The handset has a 92.3% screen to body ratio. It weighs 180 grams and has a thickness of 8.04mm only.

The rear camera module has a 50 MP main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, a laser autofocus unit, and an LED flash. The primary shooter has a 1/1.56” large sensor equipped with an RYYB filter array, which makes it possible to capture brighter shots in low-light conditions. The pill-shaped camera cutout on the screen has a 16 MP selfie camera and a ToF (Time-of-Flight) lens for depth estimation. 

Honor V40 5G - The Android City

The Honor V40 5G has a 4,200mAh battery that supports 66W superfast wired charging. The phone also supports 50W fast wireless charging. Other important stuff to mention here is dual SIM slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB-C. For an enhanced gaming experience, the V40 5G also features dual linear motors for in-game vibrations and stereo speakers.

The Honor V40 comes with a price tag of: 8/128 GB for 3,599 Yuan ($559 | PKR 89,999 | INR 40,999) and 8/256 GB for 3,999 Yuan ($618 | PKR 99,999 | INR 44,999). The smartphone is launched in three color options; Magic Night Black, Titanium Silver, and Rose Gold. The sales of the V40 5G have commenced in China.
