Huawei unveiled the amazing Mate 40 Series with super cameras and Kirin 9000 5nm SoC

Huawei has unveiled the all new Huawei Mate 40 Series in an online held event with the latest and powerful Kirin 9000 5nm chipset, fast charging, amazing colors and super cameras. The company has launched four new devices under the Mate 40 brand, Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ along with a special Porsche Design Huawei Mate 40 RS.

Huawei Mate 40

Huawei Mate 40 is the base model in the Huawei Mate 40 Series. It is missing some of the super powers of the Pro models but still is a very capable smartphone. Mate 40 series has ditched the notched display and opted for a punch hole for the selfie camera on its 6.5″ OLED display panel. The screen is HDR10 certified and supports 90Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with a curved screen of 68° and has a 13 MP selfie shooter which can record 4K video on 30 / 60fps and 1080p @ 30 / 60 / 240fps.

On the back, all models of the Huawei Mate 40 Series comes with a ring like camera module except the Porsche Design variant but the configuration is different on all models. The base, Mate 40, comes with a 50 MP f/1.9, 23mm (wide) main camera along with an ultrawide sensor of 16 MP, f/2.2, 17mm and a telephoto lens of 8 MP f/2.4, 85mm.

The smartphone comes with the latest Kirin 9000E chipset but its also a step below from what the Mate 40 Pro or Pro+ offers. The base model of the series comes with two storage options 8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The smartphone is powered by 4200mAh battery that supports 40W fast charging and there’s no wireless charging support on this model. Other features of the phone are Fingerprint Scanner (under display, optical), NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, dual SIM support and audio jack. The handset will come with a price tag of 900 Euros which converts to $1061, PKR 172,999 and INR 78,150 but the company didn’t reveal when we can expect the Mate 40 to hit the stores.

The Pro models have a lot to discuss but still we will start with the super camera department on both the phones. The Mate 40 Pro has a 50 MP f/1.9 1/1.28” main camera with OIS. It comes with a 20 MP f/1.8 second generation Cine Camera (ultrawide angle), and a 12 MP f/3.4 telephoto camera with OIS and a 125mm periscope lens that brings 5x optical zoom.

On the other hand, the Mate 40 Pro+ has the same 50 MP main camera and 20MP ultrawide second generation Cine Camera. However, its 8 MP f/4.4 periscope lens offers up to 10x optical zoom. There is also a 12 MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with OIS that brings 3x zoom too. Huawei says the Mate 40 Pro+ has a 17x optical zoom range. The phone also has a ToF Camera for depth sensing. Both the models have 13 MP selfie camera on the front along with a depth sensor. The depth sensor also recognizes gestures in EMUI 11 and controls face unlock feature as well.

The cameras on both models support 4K video recording on 30fps and 60fps, 1080p @ 30 / 60 / 120 / 240 / 480fps, 720p @ 960fps and 720p @ 3840fps.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Pro+

Both Pro and Pro+ models of the series comes with the latest and powerful Kirin 9000 chipset. The new HiSilicon processor is a 5nm chipset with a built-in 5G modem and Huawei claims that it is the most powerful 5G processor in the world right now plus according to Huawei, the Kirin 9000 has 15.3 billion transistors, 30% more than the Apple Bionic 14 processor has.

Both models come with 4400mAh battery which supports 66W fast charging, 50W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. The 40 Pro offers 256 GB internal with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB internal with 8 GB RAM variants whereas the Mate 40 Pro+ comes with single 256 GB and 12 GB RAM option.

The Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro+ both come with a 6.76″ OLED display panel with a 2722 x 1344 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screens are strongly curved at 88° and you get physical volume control buttons on the side.

The Mate 40 Pro comes with a price tag of 1200 Euros equals to $1416, PKR 229,999 and INR 104,150 whereas Mate 40 Pro + comes in 1400 Euros. The amount is equal to $1652, PKR 268,999 and INR 121,550.

Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design

The Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche Design has a completely different design but almost same specs as we get on the Mate 40 Pro+. The phone has a octagonal camera module deign on the back. With minor differences in the specs, the RS model has the best storage configuration with 512 GB of internal storage and 12 GB of RAM. This model is a luxurious device with luxurious price tag! 2300 Euros! yes, you heard it right and the amount converts to $2713, PKR 440,999 and INR 199,990
